ABOUT MONSIEUR PROUST

Proust is a Labernese 'Saint Pierre' dog (mixed breed Labrador and Bernese Mountain Dog),  born at the MIRA Foundation in Quebec, Canada on June 26, 2017. When he was 9 weeks old, he picked out Gera, to be his Lady and foster parent!

Every early morning, under the bells of the Saint Patrick Basilica in the Montreal International District/Old Port,

Gera taught Proust how to follow her instructions, have good manners and act like a 'gentlemen'.

At 10 months old,  Proust went back to MIRA for his evaluation week. He did very well, received high scores and was

selected to be trained as Guide or ASD Assistance Dog. On the last day, after his health review, the MIRA veterinary, had to disqualify him, because he was suddenly limping. Gera was right there by Proust his side, wrapped her arms around him and brought him back home.

Life as Monsieur Proust had started!

'Monsieur Proust' is how his favourite human, gentlemen friend named him. Right from the early beginnings and pick up at MIRA, the two of them clearly had a special bond together. The name, Monsieur Proust, fits him well. He is a young dog, high on his legs, looking sharp in his shiny, black and white 'suit'! Especially when he joins Gera in meetings, boardrooms and on business trips, he looks and behaves like

a real gentlemen, a real Monsieur!

Proust was named after Marcel Proust, the French novelist and with a wink towards the word 'Proost', which means

'Cheers' in the Dutch language.
